Metaverse Security Seminar

Last Saturday I attended a Metaverse Security Seminar that was held by the Justice League in Second Life. I was alerted of this event by an email from a fan of The Podmafia Podcast (and the email specifically asked me not to grief the event lol). The first 40 minutes was spent on introducing themselves and it then seperated in to three parts. A newbie course, A estate management security course and something else (remind me to blog after the events…not days).

With all these superhero’s hanging around, it makes you wonder if SuperWarf will come on in flying to save the day! (SuperWarf has not been since the Edlantis incident)

Snowhereville

Well while I slept comfortably last night it looks like hell Nowhereville froze over

It’s funny that I am now reflecting on this moment last year. Last year I was finally renting a home in the form of “Island Paradise” where I had a horrible landlady who kept on walking by every five minutes spying on what I was doing while confined to a crappy prefab. Now I am not limited and can do what I wanted to do a long time ago. But only have just started now. I’m just settling down having a home now in Second Life and using other locations to hijack use for events.

Age Verification will still not work!

This is another rant but also i don’t think that the new voluntary Age Verification may work in preventing minors from accessing the adult content of Second Life.

Lets come up with a theory that due to the large size of Second Life is a plausible idea. Lets say there are two sisters/brothers who are in Second Life and one of them is overage (ie. 18-21) but her sister is underage and is roughly 14-16. Now the older sister created her sisters account but as an alt but the older sister could indeed own either an escort club or a strip club to attempt to make some money in real life and the younger sister wants a piece of the action or help her sister out in her venture.

When this verification comes into play the younger sister will be cut off from this community because obviously the older sister will have verified the account. What will it look like the older sisters dancers at the club now that the younger sister has not verified the account. It will look very suspicious indeed , So the older sister has two choices. Class the strip club as mature and risk getting flagged by the Lindens…OR verify her younger sisters account and continue what the younger sister was doing.

Am I crazy for thinking this idea up? perhaps i am a little but then again I do know of places with situations like this. So when this method of verification comes into play i will be interested in seeing what happens.

Personally, even though i know its going to look odd, but I am not going to be verifying my account. I have no need in my Second Life to look at sex clubs within Second Life because the industry doesn’t interest me one bit. I do not see the point of seeing a texture based on these polygons dancing around on a poseball. It just seems like a waste of time to me so I will not verify.

Sure there may be a trust issue with me then but in my opinion but I don’t think that just seeing Mature content will affect me at all.

Woodstock Day #1 - That S’Life coverage

Woodstock Day #1 - Aftermath

So the first day of Second Life Woodstock has come and gone. From what I could tell looking at the map we had about 100 avatars at one time all together on the three sims, Edloe also had 50 avatars on the sim. So personally i think that it was successful, there was seemingly no griefer incidents, the Sims stayed alive and everyone did their best to prevent anything going wrong.

But, personally I was shattered after all the music was finished with. I went to sleep at 6 am, and only got out of bed at about 3 PM. But still I am willing to do this again tonight because in my humble opinion, This is one of the greatest events I have been to yet in my Second Life which i have been experiencing since May 2006. So it is saying alot for the event, also I have only really missed about 30 days of Second Life. There are 2 days of Woodstock left…It has only just begun, This is going to be great

Woodstock Day #1 - Before Party

People were already waiting for the event 30 minutes (although it was definitely longer than that…i waited 30 minutes)…So to keep us sort of entertained we had DJ Doubledown Tandino. Very nice to have some form of backup to keep things flowing if any stream issues happen (which happened…stay tuned for the next blog entry) and also helps to keep things going during the transition from one artist to another.

Was i high when taking this picture? When i first saw all the grey particles flowing, i started thinking…wait is this a griefer (that was first instinct because they were grey). But instead it turned out to be a mass of weed flowing down

Thats our DJ Doubledown Tandino !

There were some issues with the first act…the stream was having issues, but Doubledown kept kicking out some tunes. Also Gomem made an appearance Live from some abandoned place that I cannot remember (it was late….real late for me, and i have to do it again tonight yippee)

But when it all was said and done, we get our first act….

Black Tie Martini Club Event

I wasn’t at this event today because i wanted to go get as much sleep as i can get ready for todays beginning of the Woodstock. However while i was there i got to talk some trash to Yxes to prepare for our big katana fight where I will win again…

Pitt Island’s Woodstock

Last but not least is the Pitt Island Woodstock stage in the series of SL Woodstock events. This ends the circle of screenshots for the stages of Woodstock. Pitt was the last to be put up and so here is the stage in its glory. Again adapted from the other stages and fits in very nicely with the surroundings.

New Bridge Design…

Yesterday i decided to revamp one of the bridges ready for SL Woodstock and in order to do that I had to get rid of the current bridge design..

Note - This event was not intended to cause offense to the Minneapolis bridge incident.

Cthulhu!

It looks like a Cthulhu is camping out at the Woodstock stage waiting for the event to start. Very Cool!
