SL on Xbox?

Earlier this week I came across this blog entry by Dusan Writer which talks about a placeholder found on the official Second Life website at the URL - http://search.secondlife.com/.

placeholder page for XBOX, PS3, and iPhone versions of client when they launch next real soon now

However if you visit the site now it says

placeholder for search

So, what’s the deal? Well here’s what I think what happened

  1. LL is working on an XBOX 360, PS3 and iPhone version of Second Life and someone in the departments placed the wrong placeholder at the URL instead of a placeholder for an offline search engine for Second Life
  2. A PR Stunt
  3. An employee who was bored and decided to have some fun without realising that it would be noticed

However if LL is working on a client for the Xbox, PS3 and iPhone then I will be happy for two reasons. I Have an Xbox AND an iPod touch. For those who don’t know the iPhone/iPod touch has the same operating system and hardware (minus the phone, camera and soon to be GPS) meaning it would work on the iPod as well.

On the Xbox and PS3 you can talk via a microphone or keyboard (at least on the 360 you can). Also the whole Flycam features that are coming soon could in theory work well with Second Life. Not to mention that they are dedicated systems for gaming making Second Life be smooth and free of system lag (sim lag will probably still occur).

Although this may never happen I think it would be awesome if it did. Here’s to hoping that the almighty lindens are working on it :)

Take it or Leave it - One Night Only!

OK, So the 2008 season for the Second Life Relay for Life is in full swing and I am part of the team Take THAT, Cancer so. I decided to bring back an original idea I had proposed to one team for last years RFL that never happened…and make it happen.

So… on SATURDAY 5th APRIL 2008 at the SLPN HQ in Nowhereville will be a One Night Only for Take it or Leave it.

What is Take it or Leave it?

Take it or Leave it is the Second Life version of Deal or no Deal which I used to host before the gambling ban. However for this night it will be a Just For Fun and hopefully we will get a tournament thing going with some prizes and stuff.

If you have any products that you want to giveaway for this please IM me in-world because I want to offer MANY prizes. But of course the aim is raise cash for the Relay for Life cause (preferably for the Take THAT, Cancer team).

I will have more on this hopefully in the next week or two

Podcasting History

When I joined Second Life in May 2006, a large factor of my life revolved around the podcasting community. Along my journey in Second Life, I have had the pleasure of doing many podcasts. Alot of them went podfade (that means the podcast just shut down and died). Others continue to live on….for now. This page will document every podcast I have done with a brief description of those shows.

Current Podcasts

The Podmafia Podcast
The Podmafia Podcast is a weekly audio adventure with myself, Gomem Desoto and Yxes Delacroix. With varying topics such at the latest stuff coming to Second Life, shopping and many many other topics. Each week I record a show with these awesome co-hosts is amazing and makes me feel all happy and stuff.

Building with Warf
This is the first ever video podcast that I have ever done! Building with Warf takes a unusual change to the way I do podcasts. I am for once teaching people something. In this podcast I teach people how to build in Second Life so that hopefully they can avoid the mishaps that many builds can be produced in Second Life and maybe, one day, people can start making a living in Second Life from skills they have learnt from me.

Podfaded Podcast History

The Weekly Warf Show
A short lived attempt at a podcast about my virtual life. I quickly figured out that The Weekly Warf show would not work because who wants to know about some guy’s life. One thing that I have learnt about Second Life podcasts is that most of them are hard to do without a gang to do the show like Podmafia or Going Broke with Daphne and Tamara.

Psichonico’s Daily Podcast
This podcast was supposedly daily but it was more of a twice a week thing. A lot of it was a sort of secret parody of Daily Source Code (and eventually The Gomem Show). Most music-casters listen to the music and choose something good. I mostly would choose something randomly and very rarely would stop the madness. It was a bit like The Weekly Warf show where I quickly lost the will to do it but Gomem and his “podfade” comments somehow spurred me to do about 30 more episodes than I wanted to.

It had a very stubborn death…

Inside the Boxes
This is the first ever podcast that I ever decided to do. It started up in March 2006 when I first got a microphone and wanted to do a podcast. The show was based on the TV game show Deal or no Deal. Sadly the community I was creating it to had no clue about what podcasting is or was. So such a podcast was bound to tank.

The Ten Cast
The Ten Cast was a weekly technology news podcast in which I discuss the latest techology news in the world. Since I am a big geek I love technology and all the stuff that it creates. You can still listen to the show at PodcasterNews.com if you want to listen to the show.

No Longer Contributing To

MetaNews Weekly
In it’s short history MetaNews Weekly is a podcast revolved around the news of the metaverse. Originally hosted by myself and Gomem Desoto. After 3 episodes we decided to hand over the keys to Mal Burns and Tara Yeats. The show is currently on Hiatus until my machine returns and will then return in a Live Streaming format

Appearances

Night Guy Episode 45
Guy David, host of the Night Guy podcast, invited me on to his show for the first of three episodes called “The Podmafia Chronicles”. We talked about some of the stuff that I was doing and also was the final podcast that I used a headset on since it pretty much died in the recording.

SL Under the Radar Episode 24
In this episode of SL Under the Radar, Radar invited me to talk about SLPN. I decided to do reverse psychology on the listeners to trick them in to thinking why the network was bad and make them visit in order to wonder why it was so bad…

I think it worked…

SL Under the Radar Episode 33
It was a week of change for me, I was working on moving SLPN to a new server and moving SLPN’s HQ from Nowhereville to Podcast Island and stuff. In the week I was asked by Radar if I wanted to be in a short interview and I accepted. I gave views on the SL podcasting scene but mostly the story of my Second Life.

The Black Tie Martini Club - A Cleveland Yankee in King Razzaps Court Over The Rainbow
In this episode of The Black Tie Martini Club Oddcast Caleb invited me to play a few roles. OK so i butchered it all up and could have done better but…I tried to make myself sound clear…and I think I was ill at the time…It was December after all…

Crap Mariner’s marathon of many many chats…
For some reason, Crap Mariner/Laurence Simon invited many people to chill and have a chat with him in the time limit of 15 minutes. I was first up in the episode and pretty much everyone was better than me but ah well. I advise you go listen to it if you want to have 5 hours of torture. It has an important message at the end i thought…

iPodjacker Episode Seven - Stuart Warf
Crap Mariner launched a new podcast called iPodjacker. It was launched when SL5B came around and he wanted a chance to talk to podcasters who have been involved with Second Life. I was glad to participate in this podcast. The series also features interviews with people like Wiz Nordberg, Rich Desoto and other great SL talents.

Second Life Notes Trojan Horse?

After reading about Google flagging Chill Moksung’s blog “Second Life Notes” as having badware on Dolmere’s blog I decided to go and check out the site myself (since I am a Windows user and I use protection (Eset Anti-Virus cos Norton Sucks)  and well… strangely enough I got a message pop up when I visited the site.

Second Life Notes trojan?

Not sure what sort of trojan it is…or even if its just a false-positive… I wonder what the deal is with this.

Some Housekeeping to do…

Well lets see what have i been doing this week. Well you could say that i have not done too much this week or have done a lot depending on your definition. So i want to take this time to talk about some stuff that is coming up and what’s been happening.

Take it or Leave it
Just in case you haven’t read the blog “New World Notes” i was recently mentioned in the blog and was very pleased at what was said. I am still sort of modest about my hosting skills but people keep saying that i’m great so im inclined to believe them :) . Also i am pleased to announce that I will be hosting Take it or Leave it on Tuesdays at Nowhereville at an earlier time of 1PM SLT. This event is really for the Europeans because they never get a L$2,500 game on at that time which is kind of upsetting so I offered to do it. Also I will be hosting at the Audiocourses “ACHUB Spring Festival” on Sunday at 1PM SLT. That will also be L$2,500 top prize so fans of my work have a two for one deal as I will be heading over to Nowhereville pretty much straight after the event.

New Blog Theme
I decided that Kubrick was looking a little old for me now and so i switched to another theme and I am currently in the midst of redesigning a lot of the work to make it more eye-appealing including easier ways to subscribe to the blog.

RL : Eazy Computer Help
Finally, I have teamed up with Louis Ringgold in a blog called Eazy Computer Help. Sure this isn’t Second Life at all but i promised him that I would plug it at places so I thought that I would start here. It is really good if you want some tips although its more aimed at computing novices

Eazy Computer Help

I am going to the Bucket event tonight as a …. You will have to come and find out and I hope to see you there, Bye!

No Questions..except one?

After the game of Take it or Leave it i enquired with Corey Akula about if i could help out with Take it or Leave it. It looks like i have somthing to do now in Second Life. On Sundays at 4pm SLT join me at Nowhereville as i host Take it or Leave it and try to produce a L$2,500 winner. I am excited to be doing this as i am a huge fan of Deal or no Deal and hope you will all join me as i try my hand at hosting the game.

Take it or Leave It

I am at the Bucket Take it or Leave it Show. Personally i am only entering one ticket since i have to be on a budget after renting out the Podmafia Land. I know alot about the strategies and tactics that Deal or no Deal has and am a huge fan of the UK show. Hence why i love the interactive version of it in Second Life.
