Ebuyer Woes

It is very rare for me to do a blog entry on the Real Life, however recent times have prompted me to talk about the technology store Ebuyer and how it sucks for first time users looking to make a quick delivery!

Now earlier in the week one of my uncles came to my house (he only lives down the road) and was looking to get an iPod for my aunt’s birthday (the birthday has not happened yet, but they don’t have an internet connection so posting this blog entry is a safe bet…). The iPod he was looking for was a pink one. Luckily Apple introduced a pink version a couple of weeks back so it was all good.

We decided to try out ebuyer. I had heard about this site before and I thought it was a trusted source for a quick order. The delivery was set to arrive on Thursday and I thought, cool we can get the iPod stuffed with songs for a week and everything will be fine.

On wednesday we get a phone call asking about added Identity Verification. So I sent over ID proving who I was over email and it took about 17 hours for a reply saying UTILITY BILL UNVERIFIED. So I send another one straight away and after 24 hours there was no reply. I cancelled the order over the phone and thought to myself that this is not a good way to do delivery. It is not really user friendly for a first time user who wants to get something Quick and Easy.

Maybe I was just an unlucky one. But today I got the nano from a store and that was no hassle at all. The only problem I had (this is just stuff that bugs me…) was them saying that you need to charge the iPod up when you get home blah blah blah in my personal experience of using 4 iPods… NEVER has one had no battery life. It was not different this time.

Anyway heres some photos of the pink iPod nano 8GB

Windlight Bug

Windlight Bug, originally uploaded by StuWarf.

My laptop does not seem to like Windlight at all and always gives me this grey cloud effect which sucks… :(

Until Lindens Fix the postcard bug…

I will be writing blog entries out of Second Life with Wordpress. The convenient way this helps is that i can do more pictures in the entries, but it is also not convenient because it wont be posted automagically with BlogHUD.

A Sea of Missing Textures

WOW. I decided to log onto an older version of the First look viewer and didnt get the update. And a once texture filled land is now literally covered in Missing Images. This is a very strange experience indeed.

Database Issues?

IssuesThere type of issues seem to be growing more and more common in Second Life. I am starting to wonder will these issues go away now theat Second Life is Open Source. Personally i hope that they will get better because it can get to be annoying if the grid goes down while somthing important (like a wedding or big event) is happening.

Its Official…

Second Life right now is a planewreck (In Response to a Post on Gomems Blog)

Grid is down

The Second Life grid has been down for a long time now, not too sure how long though. But it appears that there are asset issues through an upgrade. Right now the Lindens are working on the issues but since its been 7-8 hours since the grid went down.

[UPDATE]Glitch Found

For Update see the bottom of the post
In less than an hour of Second Life coming back up i have found a paticularly nasty bug in the new version of Second Life that could be potentially nasty. Lets show you the glitch first:
Warf Bugger 1

Just incase you cant clearly see the glitch i edited the picture into a white fill to make it more obvious.

Warf Bugger 2

Why this is a nasty bug is because it is visually seen by everyone and can really damage a persons style. This is not as simple to fix as a missing texture and this is why it needs to be fixed as soon as possible or a workaround of it needs to be found.

Update: I have fixed my problem and i will provide a guide incase any of you run into this problem. Firstly right click your name tag then goto appearances. Then to Skin. Simply change a property and click Save and then the problem is fixed.

Here we Go!

Yep, Second Life is back up. Will we see a sucessful launch and no bugs or will there be a tremendously bad bug that will make Second Life more broken than it already is. These updates usually are either Good or Horribly Bad. No Inbetween from my past knowledge but thats what i love about Second Life i guess. I promise to post more entries on the blog as i am getting more and more free time coming into my hands now.

Search is Back…sorta

Yesterday Search was restored by the Lindens…however you are unable to search with the control if you are on an Estate (Private Island). This could be annoying for me as i spend a lot of time now on Private Sims.Search Sorta Working
