Financial Status in Second Life

A Huge aspect in Second Life for anyone, including myself, is the financial and economical stability of Second Life.

I’ve noticed that since May (When i first joined Second Life) that the cost of 1 US$ has deflated from roughly L$350 to L$250. Therefore Linden Dollars are becoming more and more valuable since they are worth more.

However Prices for items in Second Life tend to not change with this change. Does this mean that shop owners are finding that their products are becoming more valuable or are they not noticing these changes. Do they want more money in Second Life?

I have never really thought about the changes much myself and i have only started to notice it myself after doing up a little research.
Land Prices have been increasing in price lately which does correlate with the changes that are taking place with the value of the Linden Dollar. Since Land is becoming more and more valuable with the increase of members so does Items.

However i am not going to end this and answer why this is happening but ask for people, Residents such as yourselves to give their input on the situation and what this does mean. I am by no means a financial expert so i may be understanding this all wrong. But i would like to know what is going on since these issues will affect us all.

I have been in SL 3 yrs in April 07 and as a store owner not much less than that. I have increased my texture sets from L$200 for 10 to L$350 for 10 ( on average) because of the L$ value deflating at times.
I feel as more competitors come in the price remains the same for most store holders because, well they have to compete. With an increase of content creators selling and giving their wares away because a) they can afford to in RL and b) its just a hobby to them they have RL jobs or income this creates a problem for SL business ppl who dont ‘play’ SL but are here to earn a living. This includes a massive amount of disabled or sick adults like myself who cannot go out to work but are lucky enough to turn their spare time into a little cash via SL’s platform.
